Following Meher Baba Panel Discussion
During the Spring Cleaning Sahavas last week, a panel discussion was held with two Center staff members about “following Meher Baba.” John Collins and Bryan West share how they follow Baba in their lives, discussing the integration of their work on Center and their personal relationships with Baba. Infused with good humor and camaraderie, their love for Baba and the Center comes through in their unique responses.

“Love consumes you until you are no more”
In this talk given in Mandali Hall, Eruch addresses the ever-present question of, “how do we love God?” Utilizing a series of examples given by Baba when answering that very question, Eruch illustrates the difference between human and divine love, stressing that constant remembrance of the Avatar is the first step toward loving Him.

Meher Baba’s Discourse on Love
In this rare recording of the Discourse Meeting at the Center in the spring of 2002, Darwin Shaw reads aloud Baba’s discourse on “Love.” Darwin first met Meher Baba in 1934 and continued to have intimate contact with the Avatar. He held Discourse meetings at the Center from 1989 to 2005. This reading is followed by a poignant session of discussion where Darwin answers questions about love, infatuation, the inner life, and the direct experience of love when he met Baba.

“A Perfect Love”
In this beautiful recording, Filis Frederick shares precious tidbits of the early days at the Center, back when they had to wear “jungle boots” to hack through the Youpon, and Baba’s first visit was an unknown moment in the future for which everyone was preparing enthusiastically. Elizabeth Patterson chimes in to offer further details here and there. Filis goes on to describe her long-awaited first meeting with Baba, in which she felt she “was just drowning in Baba’s love.”

Meher Baba Of Ahmednagar: His Life in Historical Perspective, Part 1
In the first session of the Center’s new Virtual Program series, Jamie Newell introduces this ten part series. This biographical series will build upon the story of Baba’s life within the history of religions, the time period during which Baba lived and the world at large. In this talk, Jamie also analyzes Baba’s Persian heritage vis-à-vis the influence of the great poet, Hafiz in Baba’s life, teachings and ministry. The session ends with questions from the audience.

“The Avatar Himself is the shortcut”
Darwin Shaw was a devoted disciple of Meher Baba, who had the good fortune to meet the Avatar for the first time in 1934. Darwin went on to become instrumental in the development of Meher Center. In this recording, Darwin shares an overview of the spiritual path laid out by Meher Baba, ending with a poignant message given by Baba at Longchamps restaurant in New York City in 1956.

Two Characters in Search of their Author—A play for Baba’s birthday
A birthday play for Baba is starting at the Center, the audience are seated and the cast is excited. Introductions are made and the first act has just begun. Suddenly, two strangers appear right in the middle of the stage. Who are they? Are they lost? Have they been to the Center before? Have they had a tour? “No,” they reply. They claim to be fictional characters come to life, impassioned to find their author. Thus unfolds their story and their destiny in this creative and entertaining production.

“It should come spontaneously from the mouth of the guru”
Hazrat Babajan was a Perfect Master whom Meher Baba referred to as “The Emperor.” With one kiss between the eyes in 1914, she brought about young Meherwan Irani’s realization of His Infinite Self. In this recording, one of Meher Baba’s long-time mandali members, Padri, shares stories of Baba and Babajan from the 1920’s.

Meher Baba in Nasik and Rahuri
Shared previously, this original footage from 1937 allows us to partake in Meher Baba’s birthday celebrations in the holy city of Nasik and Rahuri, where He also had His ashram. We see exquisite garlanding, dances, music, and a birthday feast for all. Many of the Eastern and Western Mandali are present, along with Meher Baba’s mother, Shireen Mai.

“Wherever you are, there I am”
In this beautiful interview conducted by Irwin Luck at Meher Center in 1971, devoted mandali members Kitty Davy and Adi K. Irani share stories of their lives with Baba. Kitty talks about her first year with Baba in 1931 and her journey to accept the separation that Baba had planned for her for His work. Adi recounts the events of Baba’s final day in His physical form. Throughout, their love and faith in Baba shine through every word.
