“A fairytale filled with joy and pain”

The Kotwal family’s love for Meher Baba spans generations. Najoo Kotwal grew up in Meher Baba’s intimate company after her father Savak Kotwal and mother Nargiz decided to dedicate their lives to Baba and live under His direction at His ashram. In part one of this three part audio, Najoo recounts the early life of her father and what led him to seek God in the way he did, until he found Meher Baba in 1928. Baba’s entry into their lives caused her mother such great misery that she went to confront Him, but things did not go quite as expected.

“He had cured Himself”

Dr. Ram Ginde was a renowned neurosurgeon from Bombay who became a lover of Baba through his role as a doctor to Baba and His Mandali. In these short audio clips he narrates the story of his first meeting and treatment of Baba in his capacity as a doctor; another interesting story about Baba placing a bet on him; his thoughts on living a life with God and realizing Him; and finally, though in relation to the drug problem, some profound words from Baba about the spiritual path.

“The object of life is to have consciousness on Divine Love”

In the the third and final part of this audio interview with Kitty Davy, done by Alan Cohen, Kitty continues the story of her life and training with Meher Baba. She shares how Baba prepared them for physical separation from Him during the New Life. That training helped when the New Life concluded and she was brought with Baba to Meher Center, a place which would become her home for the rest of her life. The accounts of her days on the Center are priceless treasures which end in her sharing her focus on the meaning of consciousness with Baba.

“He brought things to the surface”

In part two of this audio interview with Kitty Davy by Alan Cohen, Kitty talks about the 1930’s and 40’s, when she had joined Baba’s ashram. Her detailed narration of the Nasik Ashram days involves nuanced sharing of the differences among the Ashram inmates and Baba’s working on them. Here, she shares the concept of the Provisional Ego that Baba taught them, where one’s ego is submitted to Baba so as everything that is done is done by Baba. This vivid account involves Baba’s plans for a film, the trip to Cannes and the Mandali’s lessons in controlling their moods.

“He asked us to be conscious of His love for us”

In part one of this audio, Kitty Davy is interviewed by Alan Cohen about her remarkable life with Meher Baba. While taking a medical break from her career as a music teacher she heard about Baba from Meridith Starr and her brother Herbert who believed that Baba was someone like Christ. It so happened that Kitty found herself receiving Meher Baba at Victoria Station in London in 1931 and took Him to her house where Baba stayed. More personal contact followed when Baba assured His help toward her brother Herbert, granted Kitty’s deepest desire and revealed how Kitty had been with Him for ages. When Baba called her to join Him in 1932, Kitty went on to give herself in love and service to Baba while learning to serve, surrender and obey.

“To be molded”

In this audio, Anita Vieillard takes us back to the heady days of the 1930’s when the Western women were first spending time with Baba in America and Europe. Childhood Stories from Mani

Mani, Baba’s sister, was one of Baba’s close Mandali and also a delightful storyteller. From the time she was a child, she longed for nothing more than to spend her life with Him in His ashram. In this audio recording, Mani tells two entertaining and profound stories about skipping ropes, tricycles, and Meher Baba.

In Part Two of this talk by Rhoda and Adi Dubash, Rhoda ends her story with her deep sense of conviction of Baba as God in Human form and Adi begins his story. Adi first found out about Baba from his cousin Minoo Bharucha and took to Him without any doubts. He did not meet Baba until years later.
